What is spirituality & how it affects our life?

The word spirituality comes from the latin word spiritus which means life force or breath. In Sanskrit we call it as Prana. Prana is a life force that flows in all living beings. Prana is the basis of life. If Prana is there life is there. If Prana is not there life is not there.

When a person for some reason or reasons starts wondering, ‘what is life’, ‘what are the fundamentals of life’, ‘why there are so many problems in my life’, ‘why does this happens to me’ or the most famous question ‘who am I’, and in order to find the answers the person starts a journey of self-exploration mostly under the guidance of a guru or a life coach, then that person is said to be on the path of spirituality.

4 Types Of Spiritual People

According to yogic sciences there are 4 types of students, bhakts, sadhaks or spiritual people. Depending upon a person’s intention he or she can be categorized in one of the segments.

  • Arta – The Fearful

When a person is in stress and wants to get rid away from some problematic situation in life and for that reason he enters the spiritual path he or she is said to be Arta. Most people are in this category.

  • Artharthe – The Greedy

When a person wants some material thing in his life like enhancement in career, wealth, etc and for that reason he enters the spiritual world then that person comes into the category of Artharthe.

  • Jigyasu – The Curious

When a person isn’t interested in getting any material thing, neither he is concerned about any problematic situation in his life but he is just curious about the various spiritual paths and for that he enters the spiritual world then that person is called as Jigyasu.

  • Gyani – The Wise

When the person is well known with spiritual life, he or she is well learned but because of past impressions he is on the spiritual path he or she is said to be Gyani. The person is just finishing his pending karmas.

How spirituality impacts our life?

Now it doesn’t matter who we are as a spiritual person, but the moment we start our spiritual journey we subconsciously give a bigger meaning to our life. We give a bigger purpose to our life.

Because of this we get almost immune to the problems of life. Not like we won’t have any problems in life but the problems won’t bother us. No matter how big the problem is we stay focused & confident.

Moreover it gives us a different perspective to the mundane affairs of our daily life. There is a famous saying, “We cannot find solutions from the same mindset or thought process through which the problem was created”. So, as we begin the spiritual journey we get a different perspective to our life.

Spirituality makes our life a lot better.
